Cape Cod Engagement Session

sept 16, 2024

Matt & Audrey are Cape Cod locals who dreamt of engagement photos that captured the beauty of the coastline they call home. Audrey actually found me on a Facebook group for Cape Cod brides mere moments after (in a burst of inspiration and longing to spend more time in this beautiful part of the country) I had shared that I would shoot Cape Cod weddings without travel fees. She ended up booking me as her photographer for her wedding this coming June, and we scheduled an engagement session! I have spent many a summer afternoon walking the flats at low tide, exploring the tiny bay creatures and admiring the ripples in the sand, but I had no idea the grandeur Cape Cod held in some of her beaches. Newcomb Hollow Beach in Wellfleet was easily the most magnificent beach I have seen on the East Coast. The dunes took us high above the ocean, giving us a view of the creamy blue sea at golden hour and I'm not gonna lie, it brought tears to my eyes. M&A popped champagne and drank straight from the bottle as we wandered the dunes, with them soaking up the golden rays that are reserved for the very end of Summer, and me running around them like a crazy person doing my best to bottle up the essence of the moment through my camera lens.
Once the sun had sunk below the horizon, we headed down the dunes to the shore. The sky was a soft lilac and the water was -in one word- enticing! M+A ran hand-in-hand into the low tide waves and it was the most cinematic moment.
As we were packing it up and saying our goodbye's Matt pointed out the full moon and I knew I needed to get one last shot. I will take any chance I get to incorporate stars or planets into photos of people in love.
All in all, this Cape Cod engagement shoot was in every way worth the 6 hour drive it took to get there from my home in north Jersey--especially because I got to spend time with family who live up on the Cape. M+A's wedding in June truly can't come soon enough!
