Hi – My name is
Nina!
The first thing you should know about me is that I am a big fan of genuine connection.
I believe that the best photos are made when the relationship between the photographer and the client is akin to a friendship. My goal is for anyone I have the privilege of working with to feel like I’m their pal!
I got my first “real” camera when I was 14 (it must have been in 2013), and have used cameras as tools to explore the beauty in people and places ever since. Film photography came into my life after I lost my little Canon Rebel T3 in a house fire. My mom let me start using her old Canon AE-1 Program that she used in her college days as a placeholder until I could replace my DSLR, but ever since then I have fallen in love with the way shooting on film allows me to stay present in the moment that I am capturing.
Today, I shoot on mirrorless digital cameras (I’m a Canon girl in case that matters to you!) as well as 35mm and medium format analog cameras.

Your Photo + Video Duo
I live in northern New Jersey with my husband Will who is my best friend, chauffeur, and the Super 8 videographer of film & frond!
He started shooting Super 8 with me this year and has proven to be such a natural. We got married in February of 2021 at my parent’s farm surrounded by 30 of our closest friends and family. Having had a small intimate wedding myself, I have such a love for capturing weddings that are celebrations of connection over opulence!
I have a degree in special education and I dream of eventually finding a way to combine my passion for photography with my passion for working with children with disabilities and their families.
Will is a piano technician by day and a musician by night. He spends his days rebuilding the insides of pianos and tuning for clients, and he spends his evenings writing, recording, and producing his own original music and playing pedal steel in a yeehaw band!
Behind the Name
I decided to name my business “film & frond photography” because I absolutely love the art of film photography, and because my favorite class of plant are ferns.
A frond is the term for the leaf portion of a fern or palm plant and the way a fern is comprised of mini versions of itself reminds me of the way human life exists because of layers and layers of love - the love of two people who came together to create a new human, the love of a parent for their child, the love of friends and community, the love of the Creator who breathed all things into being.
All of life exists because of love, on a micro and macro level, and I like the way ferns display that concept in an organic way. Photography is my medium for celebrating and creating art out of love!
